Background + Design Philosophy
Growing up in St. Simons Island, Georgia, I was exposed to the hospitality industry in a tourist-based economy at an early age. I have known the value of a high-quality hospitality experience and the importance of creating a sense of place to enhance memories, give personal meaning, and establish a special connection rooted in tradition. This has instilled a deep appreciation and understanding of the impactful ways in which the built environment fosters inspiration, connection, and well-being. My lifelong passion for hospitality experiences and interior design directly informs my core design values: a client-focused approach, high standards of creative excellence, and thoughtful attention to detail.
My formal education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from The University of Alabama and a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD). After I graduated, my professional experience began, unexpectedly, as an Event Designer for a Forbes Five Star/Five Diamond Resort, designing for affluent clientele hosting a variety of special occasions such as corporate group meetings/dinner events, weddings, and other social gatherings. I loved working with each client to curate an elevated design vision and create personalized experiences to celebrate life’s special moments, while providing excellence in customer service. Although I enjoyed the creative challenges of event design, I pivoted back to my initial career goals in interior design and relocated to Austin, Texas to explore the design opportunities provided by city growth. I am grateful to have established my interior design career among an amazing design community that values artistic expression and creative collaboration, with a dedication to maintaining the unique local culture through inspired and innovative design. Here are a few Austin design spots that I love (…you so much)! My experience working for a diverse range of multi-family, hospitality, and commercial projects encouraged me to blend both creativity and strategic thinking to all aspects of the design process.
